After missing the opening round, West Cork and not taking part in the last round, the Skibbereen Fastnet, Colin and Cian secure 2nd in class 9 in the 2009 Southern 4 Rally Championship. After an up and down year, from a last minute differential problem stopping them from starting the opening round, to Colin having his appendix removed a week before the Ravens Rock and a disappointing electrical fault on the very last stage of the Cork 20, second in the class is respectable result. “It’s been a good and bad year all round, the most disappointing part and possibly the best part was the retirement on the last stage of the Cork 20 but also leading the class going into day 2. If we had finished that stage in Cork the championship would of been very much up for grabs going to Skibbereen” Colin commented. For the last two years, Cian has partnered Colin calling those all important pacenotes. “We are alive!” was Cian’s comment at end of the season. Of course none of this would of been possible if it was not for their sponsors, CompuLearn Technology Training, A4rd-A-Deck, Cahir Doors, Dalton Tyres and John Corbett Construction. “I really have to thank the sponsors who have stuck by us over the last 2 years, without them I wouldn’t be rallying so a big thanks to them. Also a big thanks to Johnny, Conor and Stephen who helped out on the events keeping the car running.” Right now plans are being made for 2010, Colin commenting “There are a few good championships out there I would like to compete in, but once again it’s down the finding the budget but we will try and be doing something next year!” At the moment Colin plans to start the 2010 season by competing in the Galway International, the 6th and 7th of February.
